Stove
The pot or 55 gallon drum needs to be put
on something that will allow the contents to be heated. In the
first step to make
ethanol
the base material (sugar, corn, etc.) needs to be heated to sterilize
it, and during the distillation process the mash needs to be
kept warm. This stand will easily support our 25 gallon pot
or a 55 gallon drum full of mash. The propane burner under the
top plate allows for easily controlled heating. This stand and
burner could even be used to cook up a huge pot of soup for a
large group
of people (in between batches of ethanol)!
The stand is made of 1.5" channel iron. It is built to last for many years
of heavy duty use. The burner is a 70,000 btu propane unit that is easily removed
from the stand so the stand could also be used with wood as a heat source. The
1/4" 24"x24" aluminum plate on the top conducts the heat evenly and quickly.

Aluminum Plate 24"x24"

1/4" thick plate of aluminum to put on the stand for a large
pot to rest on. Aluminum quickly disperses the heat across the
